Certainly looks scary, but that's not the half of it.
As the name suggests these things lurk in the shadows, creeping around corners, waiting for an opportunity to strike. They are ALWAYS found in large, labyrinthine areas and ALWAYS come in packs. You can hear them but you can't see them. With hardly any warning you hear that distinctive roar (sounds like the velociraptors from Jurassic Park) and one is charging straight for you, often from behind.
You have two choices and barely any time to make a decision. You can run like hell and hope it doesn't catch you or stand your ground, shooting at its legs, hoping it falls to the ground so you can finish it off. And just when you think you've taken care of them all, you hear that spine chilling sound again and the process repeats.
Skilled players will be able to spot their heads poking out and use stasis before they get a chance to charge, but on harder difficulties combined with low health and ammo it can leave you breathless.
What are some other enemies, in Dead Space or in other games, that are as scary or scarier than the stalker? :O
