So what is Seecereferring to when he says a PS division, starting in 95?  I never thought that was a good idea, if only because I like the transparency.  I'm sure it's doing most of the heavy lifting, I just wish we knew how much.  And again, I'm curious as to how much of the large numbers are from online charges.  Has anyone attempted to estimate on the site?

The PS division used to be by itself, but its part of a bigger division now similar to what MS has done with EDD.  Can't remember the name of the Sony division now, though, and my brief search efforts were fruitless.  Sorry.

Networked devices division? NDD vs EDD?

Anyway IIRC a lot of the Sony costs were hoisted onto electronics to make SCE look better, such as the Cell development costs. Since both the EDD and now the NDD have funny non gaming things in them we may as well go on our merry way and assume that the game stuff = final result. Homer tried to understand how the EDD operated with respect to Xbox 360 profits and losses once but look what it did to his hair!

Networked Services, but they phased out that name, and re-constituted all the gaming stuff under Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), with Harai as the CEO and Chairman.  Howard Stringer is the CEO of the Holding Company, ie. parent company, Sony.  It seems as if the divisions of Sony are a bit more independent, as compare to a Microsoft or Apple.  It is just my personal inexpert observation that Sony is like feudal Japan.  Yes, there is the Emperor, and nobody tries to challenge his power, but he does direct the feudal lords on how to conduct their business.  Sure, they collaborate on strategy level to deliver on big ideas, like Blu-Ray or 3D TV, but in that frame work, the group heads go about their business…Quite different from a US company, where a CEO, is deeply involved…take Steve Jobs for example.  Now, in that same breathe, look at Nintendo, where Iwata is in the forefront, but then again, there focus is FAR narrower, as compared to Sony or Microsoft.
