The PS division used to be by itself, but its part of a bigger division now similar to what MS has done with EDD.  Can't remember the name of the Sony division now, though, and my brief search efforts were fruitless.  Sorry.

Anyway IIRC a lot of the Sony costs were hoisted onto electronics to make SCE look better, such as the Cell development costs. Since both the EDD and now the NDD have funny non gaming things in them we may as well go on our merry way and assume that the game stuff = final result. Homer tried to understand how the EDD operated with respect to Xbox 360 profits and losses once but look what it did to his hair!
