I don't think this is true and it will be proven partly wrong tomorrow
Dimensions: 17X7.4X2.3 cm
- 5" OLED multi-touch screen (12.7 cm)
This make sense and is definitely within reason.
- Multi-touch trackpad
This doesn't make sense unless it is in place of dual analog sticks, which seems stupid. It makes sense on the PSPhone, but not the PSP2.
- Resolution: 960 x 544
Given the power below, this seems low. However, for the screen size it seems good.
- Quad core ARM Cortex A-9
I do not think Sony is pushing this far. This chip won't be in production until late 2011 and a dual core chip is still a big jump from what the PSP had. Additionally, the dual core chip could easily push all the other stated features and provide a far better battery life.
- PowerVR SGX 543 MP4
This makes sense and also supports the dual core theory above vs this quad core rumor.
- 512MB LPDDR2 RAM (1GB devkits)
This sounds a bit much as well. I'm betting it is more around 256-ish.
- 16GB flash SD slot
This sounds perfect for Sony. The flash is cheap and the SD slot must be mandatory as its become the standard in removable memory in all mobile devices.
- Wifi, 3G, bluetooth
wifi/bluetooth sound right. 3G doesn't. Unnecessary cost as its not intended to be a phone. PSPPhone handles that cross over. Additionally, there is no 3G standard and it would require too many variants worldwide to make any sense for a gaming console.
- Acelerometers, GPS, gyroscope, front and back camera
This all makes sense and adds good value.
That's my full break down. If I'm right and it has a dual core, 256MB RAM, and no 3G, this will be a very good competitor to 3DS at around $300 while making a profit. However, this will of course required the unique games for PSP2 vs the continues lower-end ports.
If I'm wrong and these stats hold, Sony will have screwed themselves again out the gate by going too high end. It will be priced $400 at a loss out the gate with horrible battery life, even compared to 3DS when 3D turned on with full brightness. Games won't help it early in life vs the 3DS, it may still be profitable and an overall success like the PSP, but like the PSP it will sell 1/2 of the 3DS... maybe.
