Okay. It happened.

Last friday I was listening to music on my ps3 when the music suddenly stopped.. I noticed red blinking lights.. looked it up

Tried to turn it off and on and BOOM green light then yellow light then red light. Damnit.

I don't think it's the most serious hardware failure ... And I don't think it's the powersupply (If it was, would it even turn green ?.. ) Regardless.. I looked it up and on youtube (Yes okay.. Youtube. ) I found a method of fixing it involving heating it up with a heatgun, then let it cool, remove t he thermal-paste, re apply it  and voila. As good as new..

Yes I know how rediculous the method sounds but theoretically it would fix the problem that could possibly be the cause of my malfunctioning ps3. Aparently some of the solders have a tendency of lifting from the mobo, causing it to overheat.

Now I don't think my ps3 is completely dead.. And for now it seems like the best option.. Concidering my machine is 3 years old (so out of warrenty) and a 60gb euro (I dont want to send it to sony and then they send me another machine back.. especially if it's a different model.)

SO basically. Have any of you tried to fix your own YLOD ?... And more importently.. Did it work ?
