I've always liked Germany:
Good powerful well balanced economy, strongest in Europe
Until recently the largest exporter of manufactured goods
very high standard of living, however more so in what was previously West Germany
Generous welfare system
Very good infrastructure, in particular the high speed ICE rail networks
