I also liked Luigi's Mansion over Mario Sunshine which, like Wind Waker, I consider total low points in their respective franchises. I'm a huge Metroid fan, and I couldn't get enough of the Prime games because they so perfectly brought Metroid into the modern era from the SNES days. Other M, though, I think is an unfettered mess that only managed to do everything wrong where Metroid is concerned. It was Ninja Gaiden painted to mimic a Metroid game, but completely ignored the soul of the franchise. But, I don't want to argue about those things anymore. Suffice to say, the Prime games felt like Metroid, where Other M did not as far as I'm concerned.
I just found out from IGN that the GameCube was designed to be a 3-D compatible system (probably what that third unused port under the thing was meant for), and that Luigi's Mansion was designed--all the way back then--to be compatible with the unused GameCube 3-D tech. A 3-D sequel to Luigi's Mansion on the 3DS would be sweet.
