Of course, that .mp3 player probably has huge, iPod-like margins, where as a PSP2 would probably be sold at cost or a slight loss.  Which I suppose wouldn't make much sense, given the PSP2 should be able to do all that that .mp3 player can do plus more, but that's the nature of the .mp3 market.  People were crying about a $399-599 ps3 when Apple was selling boatloads of .mp3 players at similar prices.
