Today many western p&c games are funded in continental Europe and released there first, mainly in Germany, but also in France and Spain. Even games designed by US designers like ex-Sierra On-Line legend Jane Jensen (Gray Matter) or ex-LucasArts' workers Bill Tiller (A Vampyre Story) and Hal Barwood (Mata Hari).
This UK publisher http://www.mamba-games.co.uk/ soon releases some of the a.m. European-developed games which are not available in English yet, like Jane Jensen's Gray Matter or the acclaimed and in Germany quite successful Edna & Harvey: The Breakout (like many p&c games developed in Germany Edna & Harvey is heavily inspired by LucasArts' legendary adventure games).
