This is an topic that fuels fanboy wars all over the interwebs and chats between threads.
Who copied who etc
Really i dont know why people argue about other companies copying other companies ideas. Because when another company copies another ones idea, majority of the time its an good idea to help improve there product/service.
See games as an medium has so much copying each other, if there was to be some type of rule implemented 25 years ago we would get hardly any games any more other than franchises with very long numbers.
And today when there is innovation and its accepted among the gaming community as an great thing its great if the others got in on it too. there is nothing wrong with that happening for example
When WASD controls were implemented and became popular with Quake they became an stable of PC gaming controls, and if someone was to use different would be laugh on. But what i dont see is that no one is complaining that majority of pc developers have been copying this idea for years now.
See People shouldn't put down games for copying stuff from another but judge on what they do with such innovation and end such fanboy wars and the currently very annoying and popular trend especially in FPS "Copied from COD or COD did it". First off that argument is completely flawed because COD copied majority of its ideas from other sources but they implemented it an way that work and was good. COD is one of many, many success stories of developers taking an bunch of different ideas at the time and meshing into the prefect combination.
So quit using this "copied from x " and instead judge how game x uses such innovation and compare it to that of its place in other games as an benchmark.
Because in the game industry and even the entertainment industry as whole, Copies more times then you could even imagine.
disclaimer: completely ripping off games under the clear goal of profiting off one games success is BAD or as an way to steal the idea of others so dont have to paid them is also bad.
Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
