Achievements become a problem when that's the only reason to play a game. A couple of weeks ago i read somewhere that someone said that they would rather play a bad game with achievements than a great game without them. That is just wrong

I wonder if that was even an opinion or just a marketing guy planted in there.

Unless Twesterm's been building up trust in this community for years just so he could begin subtly shilling for whoever planted him, i find that doubtful.

Anyhoo, i'd like the idea of Achievements if they were worth anything. That was way i was excited by the idea that the Pedometer "coins for in-game unblockables" system might extend to in-game achievements, but as Achievements and Trophies are implemented, they're little more than a distraction as far as i'm concerned.

Ideally i'd see, for instance, every 1,000 Gamerscore on your Live profile net you an extra 100 MS Points for free. Now that would be worthwhile

Well... he's also part of a game developer, that has an interest in supporting what game features and tech are popular, so there are some comments I take a grain of salt from him.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
