It's off-topic, but since we're talking about Paradox, is it actually possible to survive as a smaller nation in EU3, like, say, Scotland?

Right now I'm playing as brittany and I am the major player in north america Portugaul, GB, and spain have token possessions and mostly have south america (But I recently exploited the incas recently as well.)

All you gotta do is sell great britain some mainland provinces you don't give a shit about and use that 6000 gold to finace your new world colonization.

Also I played as Georgia... Which was.. Much more difficult. Just capture some russian minors and cozy up to muscovy until you have to betray them. The Golden Horde was my main enemy in that scenario, though. Pain in my ass until I could finally keep them in a war long enough until the country broke up because of rebellion.

Keep in mind, it is alot easier to play as a smaller nation is the old versions of the game. Used to be that you could conquer the world as navarra. Ever since httt something like that is very, very difficult. Practically impossible.

I do notice that scotland doesn't usually survive even 50 years in my games. GB is almost too powerful, they always defeat france in my game and france usually ends up looking like germany with all the fractured states. That, or half of it is british red.

Yeah, moving to the new world is a good idea, I'll try that.

What I did with Scotland was manage to unify the rest of what would be UK and ally France and someone else (can't remember who) in a war against england. It started well as England wouldn't send that many armies my way and they were slowly losing territories in both fronts but then France pulled out and I was raped.
