I can only speak for myself and I don't like horror games, no matter if they are gory like most of them or subtle like Amnesia.
Actually I think it's the other way round: Of all the "independent" games developed for PCs, Amnesia currently gets by far the most attention (not counting Minecraft of course).
Also: Plenty of reviews available.
