But I have to disagree with you about Episode 3. To me, it absolutely epitomized the themes that Lucas tries to portray with the series. Fear of the power of the dark side, anger, revenge, constant struggle of good vs evil (even within oneself), it was all present and accounted for. Even more so than in Empire/Jedi. Just my opinion, of course. |
He turned evil WAY to quick. He went from, conflicted and considering going evil to save his wife to killing kids in like one scene. I mean he totally murdered a bunch of kids. |
Ah, but the beauty of it is, that he was overhwhelmed by the dark side, and when he went to see what was happening with Mace Windu and Palpatine, he didn't know that Mace already tried to arrest him. All he saw was Mace holding Palpatine, his lifetime mentor, at sabre-point. This is when he turned to the dark side. Also, remember, Palpatine manipulated his ravaged mind into thinking that killing the Jedi would make him strong enough to save Padme. |
See I think it was a "what can we do to make sure Anakin has no likeability by the end of this movie." Since the rest of it could be seen as wanting to save his love which people could relate too as there are plenty of people who would betray there friends for the person they love.
