Half-life 1 is a godly game.
Half-Life 2, even though I loved it, isn't AS great as everyone says, mainly because of all the hype, like Halo 3. Halo 3 was a great game, but people put it on a pedestal and it just couldn't live up to it no matter what it did, same goes with Half-Life 2. People were saying it would be the next huge leap (considering that it was the successor to one of the greatest games of all time, Half-Life) but it just didn't meet that (because it realistically couldn't). That's why you get threads like this.
By the way, who ever said Halo 2 was the worst in the series is kidding themselves, it had graphical and gameplay leaps over it's predecessor and it's story was the best of the 3, considering that Halo 1's plot was subdued and Halo 3's basically cut out arbiters story (making certain plot points feel emotionless) AND it had pretty bad pacing. Halo 2's was good because it gave you the other side of the story, though a little too often and too prolonged, I still welcomed it.
