I don't remember it being that difficult. As I played through the game, I collected the features I ran into along the way. I didn't start actively looking for them until the end of the game. What helps is that somewhere in the menus, you can lookup how many features you've collected in each area of the game and how many are present in each area. That helps you narrow down your search.

oh so it actually narrows it down by area?  that helps out a lot actually, I just hate it when I am missing 1 thing and spend hours looking for it (like the last shard in Infamous lol)  Thanks man!!!
