They can keep the basis of the battle system, but still improve on it.  Allow us to control the entire party directly if we so wish.  

And seriously, Square-Enix, don't force us through a 20 hours long tutorial before giving us the full scope of the battle system.  Geez.

Yeah definetely, the original press release did say the battle system is being evolved, so I think thats what they'll add. If it retains the same battle system with the improvements you mentioned, becomes more open and gets towns its well on its way to be a good game. The trailer's feel seemed a bit darker than FF13 so that was good. I hope toriyama gets his act together.
