You got that wrong , when you use the code you will be able to run the game on that ps3 forever, even if you spend all the codes afterward.

If you go through 5 PS3s (some people here on VGChartz have had to go through 5 PS3s because of faulty hardware) then that game will not work anymore on your new, 6th, PS3... and you'll have to buy a new one (a new copy of that game).

If you're on your 6th PS3 because of faulty hardware, having to buy a game again is the least of your worries.
