Do attack ads work?

In the UK, attack ads (and really, ads in general) are almost exclusively Conservative, from what I've seen. Some are absolutely disastrous, like the paralysed David Cameron staring at a camera. Actually, the attack ads are the best; for example, the ones with Gordon Brown doing his disturbing smile with the sarcastic statements (e.g. "I tripled the deficit, let me do it again"). There is nothing wrong with attacking the other parties, especially in a country where everyone hates all of the parties for one reason or another anyway.

This has got me thinking, and I realised - J.K. Rowling supports Labour. They should totally jump on that and have Dumbledoore endorse the party, or something... would bode far better than Ross Kemp.

Honestly, he should stick to standup. He has all of the political intelligence of Sarah Palin, seriously. That was certainly an attack ad. He kept insisting that David Cameron would be Margaret Thatcher and do such awful things as winning a war, reducing taxes, reducing trade union power and remaining in power for 11 years. He's not going to do any of those things (of course, Eddie didn't mention this, he just whined a little about unemployment). I only ever saw it on YouTube, though, because apparently Labour can't actually afford advertising campaigns. I have no idea where all of their donations go.

Dumbledore is a much better idea, but only if they can resurrect the old one, because this new one is awful.

Huh, I'm really confused, here... I can't tell sarcasm over text, but those things would be awesome, and I would think that he would be aiming to do all of them, fiscal situation willing.
