but i'll avoid any story information for this game, since it could be, that spoilers have killed my XIII Experience back then.

He is either a love interest or a rival, the latter hopefully, Square-Enix love stories are worse than George Lucas'

Final Fantasy IV Had a great Love Story!It's too bad that many people have played X and XIII and havent experienced games like IV...

I  loved IV's story in general as well.  IMO it's my favourite FF game after VI and narrowly beats IX.  Everyone should play it, it's been ported/remade several times, so I doubt many people don't have the ability to experience it.
