Challenging battles! Epic storylines!! Memorable enemies!! Incredibly addictive upgrade systems for weapons, items, and armor!! FF13 has none of that.
It does have a pretty fun battle system (maybe the best ever) once you get hooked on preparing yourself for battles and choosing the right paradigms (takes about 20 hours or something, though). Graphics are sexy, too. My biggest gripes were that money was almost useless, characters were shallow and forgetable, and there weren't a lot of different enemy types. I think you'll get your money's worth but come into it with realistic expectations or your feelings are going to be hurt.
