I don't see much of a point in Gran Turismo endurance races. The difficulty level usually is ridiculously low and the only challenge posed is to sit through the entire event with one boring lap after another. It doesn't look like this has changed with GT5, only that the duration of the races has increased even moreso.

In GT3 I was quite shocked by the strength of the AI on the Apricot Hill endurance race, because it could actually keep up with me. But come lap four, the AI went into the pit and did so every four laps while I could ride it out three or four times longer each time, making the whole event a breeze again.

Actually the A.I has improved quite a lot.

The only advantage I had over the A.I was the fact that I drove faster than them during the rainy hours, because on the dry hours, they can actually keep up with me.

Also, my current pitting routine in the dry hours has decreased from 13 laps to 10 laps, while the A.I still maintains the 12 laps routine. Thus I have to push harder and much faster on dry than I had to push on rain, and thanks to that I've continuously done some little mistakes here and there.

It also helps my cause that I'm driving with a wheel, which allows me to be much faster than I normally would with a Pad. In GT4, when I did the 24 hours Le Mans with a Minolta Toyota (much more power and corner ability than the 787b), I won it with barely -4 laps advantage, and I wasn't able to pull the current lap times that I'm pulling.

Nice report lestatdark and goodluck for the remaining 12 hours!

Thanks a lot I'll be updating it in a couple of hours, almost hitting the 13 hour mark now.
