They have no choice, their console is very casual unfriendly, and the casual stuff they have come up with has absoloutely bombed, wheras Microsoft's have flourished. So picking core games wasn't some love letter to it's userbase.

You better believe if they could be in Microsofts position right now with Kinect, and it's casual games, and all the money piling in, they'd switch in a second.

Sony is a company that has proven they can support both casual and core audiences. Move is a bit more of a core product, and I agree that Sony chose this route to differentiate themselves. However, they had a choice, and chose to go with proven technology with extra precision. Nobody, including Microsoft anticipated the immense success of Kinect, but that's not to take even a portion of Move's success away from it.

As mainly a core gamer, I respect MS's current strategy, but prefer Sony's, as it will mainly appeal to me.

It wasn't a dig at Sony, looking at the bigger picture they've made the right decision given what they have. But no, move isn't a core product in itself, it's just a black wii mote essentially. A little extra precision (which isn't that much more precise than motion plus I believe, doesn't change it from core to casual. It's all about the SW, and Sony did try casual SW but obviously failed miserably with it.

Sony chose this route because like I said earlier, they didn't have much of a choice, everything about the PS3 is unappealing to casuals aka the blue ocean Nintendo created. That's not a bad thing though, like you said for gamers such as yourself, it's best case scenario. Most core gamers are going to prefer move because it focuses on core games. That said Kinect will offer core games, and MS seem to be making more of an effort there than Sony are going by just the Japanese core games coming.

I just wanted to add some transparancy to the topic, for people foolish enough to believe Sony are some sort of saviour to motion controls, chosing core games because they care about their userbase. Right now everything is against them appealing the casuals, the price of the console, the whole PS3 vibe, being tech heavy, the image.
