Whilst I'm against this entirely, I think this is an overwhelming kick in the teeth.

I still can't get my head around the idea that this was never about piracy and it was all about linux, but within 2 days of these being released, we've had more hacks and crap with Linux and homebrew items nowhere in sight...yup, totally, it was never about the piracy...¬_¬

in 1998 i had a friend that showed me how to hack the public computers on the campus... they were blocked to use only word and internet. It was easy, he just used IE as a browser to delete the blocking program....

I'm pretty sure the IT staff didn't put IE there for him to delete the protection program, but he still used it for that.

Similarly, Gehort wants to use the PS3 as a dev tool.... he needs it useable as he wants, so he makes it so. He shares his finding for the like minded... he's the IT staff, they are the regular students that use the IE for the internet.

Pirates are like my friend... they use the tool put at their disposal for other purposes, it's still the same tool though, just used differently.
