The story couldn't connect the soundtrack to the places and cast for the most part, for any soundtrack I think whats important is the placement of the songs that helps them become really memorable (Aerith's team used on Red XIII would sound weird and The Imperial March used on Han Solo would be weird). I wasn't impressed with the soundtrack while playing the game too much but when I listened to it outside the game it sounded much better. This is once again proof of the terrible development process and how disjointed it was, the team had no unified vision or direction and ultimately Toriyama, the directer of the game is to blame, which is why I want him out of the project (that will probably never happen as I hear Toriyama is friends with Kitase and Nomura who will make sure he isn't fired). |
While I agree for the most part (especially about Toriyama), there is no soundtrack I'd listen to outside the game, honestly. It just can't really keep my interest.
I wasn't talking about themes, though. I was just talking about the BGM's, like the music that plays during the frozen lake stage (forgot the name). They work well with the environment.
Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!
Kojima: Come out with Project S already!
