To be honest, while I liked the background music for FFXIII, as it's very fitting, I didn't really hear a soundtrack that stood out. |
The story couldn't connect the soundtrack to the places and cast for the most part, for any soundtrack I think whats important is the placement of the songs that helps them become really memorable (Aerith's team used on Red XIII would sound weird and The Imperial March used on Han Solo would be weird). I wasn't impressed with the soundtrack while playing the game too much but when I listened to it outside the game it sounded much better. Some of the music pieces in the game sound so out of place in the parts where they are its not even funny. This is once again proof of the terrible development process and how disjointed it was, the team had no unified vision or direction and ultimately Toriyama, the directer of the game is to blame, which is why I want him out of the project (that will probably never happen as I hear Toriyama is friends with Kitase and Nomura who will make sure he isn't fired).
