I think the problem with the first 3 Spidey movies is that Raimi took a lot of liberties with the characters and source material. I HATED the fact that Spider-Man didn't use webshooters in the movies because it made Peter Parker seem insignificant. There are two sides to the character and taking away from Peter's genius annoyed me. I think a slightly darker rendition that follows the comics more closely is good thing. If they do it right despite all the criticism I believe people will be genuinely pleased that they decided to reboot the franchise. I think the James Bond transition from Brosnan to Craig is a good example of how a well executed reboot can trump any brevity between two films. |
Oh but I'm sure they're going to do it just right with this reboot but you know I think there was so much more to tell in Raimi's world.
