Its just about knowing which reviewers not to trust, I have two of the major american review sites (not sure if we are allowed to name them, sorry still a bit new at all this) that I know are ALWAYS wrong so I do the opposite of what they say, They gave atelier rorona, nier and castlevania 6/10 or less so I bought them all (and liked every single one, 2 of them made my top 10 games ever, I also wasnt even going to buy castlevania but when I saw one of them give it a 5/10 I thought I should pick it up, and its a solidly enjoyable game). While on the other hand games they rate highly (around 8.5 or more) are generally awful and I find myself taking them back within the 7 day money back return period (by which time I have normally finished them anyway as they are so short, I'm a bit of a completionist and i force myself to at least finish the story in even the worst of games). The exception to this rule is Bayonetta, which rated bhighly with both and was amazing, but that is an anomaly in the extreme
There are a few review sites i semi trust, but that is shaky at best, I generally find knowing who not to trust and acting accordingly is far more reliable.
