| okr said: Nothing, and that's why I don't care. I buy far too many games for my systems anyway. If people want handheld versions of console games, that's perfectly fine imo. DS has e.g. Mario Kart, to name one extremely successful example (and many Nintendo fans hope for a SSB handheld version), PSP has God of War et.al. And can't you (and I) wait for Okamiden, a handheld game based on a console IP? As long as excellent, original IPs are still created for handhelds (Advance Wars, Prof. Layton, Scribblenauts, Ace Attorney, Patapon, LocoRoco, Lumines to name a few examples), the game companies can bring as many "console versions of handheld games" as they and their audience want in my opinion. |
Oh yes, I totally agree with all the above, basically. And I, too , think it's fine if a handheld gets console-y games, it's just that I believe these games shouldn't be empasized on a handheld, over the other (more handheld-centric) games. A diverse library is fantastic, console franchises and all. Just not too many, over better suited content.
And I believe it's important that handheld outings of console franchises take advantage of the system's strong points and try to make it unique and somewhat different from the console counterpart. Developers ought to strive to make their games as much suited to the system it's on as possible. Wanting to see console games on portables merely for the sake of it is illogical, in my opinion. To use our beloved Okamiden as an example, (
) the stylus-based brush controls are a match made in heaven, and a logical choice.
