I am finding this sickening. STILL people CAN'T resist arguing political bulletpoints here? I see an argument, in this thread advocating EVERYONE own guns? Excuse me, why is this even being brought up? I see cases now where Sarah Palin screams, "Blood libel" in response to the charges of hate speech. People absorbed in their own political opinions rather than figuring out common ground rules for civil discourse.
On this note, I will offer one piece in the NY Times, which would be a right wing address that is balanced, and should remind people about now being a time to be united in horror:

And yes, it does engage in a level of spin that Olberman had, but still the point needs to be addressed. And no, I won't have a gun. I have a better idea... I carry plastic, so I don't have money on me, and don't wear bling so I don't look like I am a target for crook. And a gun would do what exactly, except elevate the tension level? Individuals who are threats to use guns either feel the situation calls them to do it, out of fear, or they believe they would get away with it, if they use it. In a case where a person loses it in anger, the guns they have around do end up getting used. At that point, the gun goes off and is used and people regret it happened. Not much for me to gain carrying a gun. I am curious exactly what Plaxico Burress gained by carrying a gun on him. He ended up in jail and out of the NFL as a result.
