Why do these hackers give away their work for free?

GEOHOT asked NINTENDO,SONY,MICROSOFT to hire him if they want to make their next console more secure

stupid way to ask for a job. after hacking a console to open it to piracy and releasing it on the internet, and potentially costing the company millions of dollars, he then asks for a job? what about asking for the job BEFORE releasing it on the internet?

his method is just crazy. now he's facing a lawsuit and he doesn't have a penny to show for it.

actually he already consulted legal help and SONY has nothing against him

 

and he actually didn't open it for piracy,he actually blocked the things needed to open piracy in his Custom Firmware but people modifed it.
