When I first heard about it I was very suspicious we'd get a very watered down version - what with the gritty settings, the tapestry of characters and occasionally depressing plot turns, but I suppose HBO has taken enough risks in the past that I can somewhat trust them (still mourning Carnivàle, though).
I'm still curious (or even dubious) about the adapting they might need to make it work in an episodic structure, as for everything I like in the books they certainly don't have an even pacing. All in all, though, looking forward to it :)
