It's not necessarily odd that they are more trust worthy members. But I've found that there are plenty of viable posters who just don't post nearly as often. Many great posters lurk far more then post.
Post count should never be involved in moderation . It should always be about the content in the specific post. With only blatant personal attacks, trolling, etc serving the ban hammer.
If the post is questionable, a mod should shoot out a warning first, ban second. A practice that I haven't witnessed very often around here. The lines of getting moderated and not getting moderated are generally very muddy around here.
