Meh ...
Most of the reason I want to see new consoles is to see what is possible with new hardware; and, while I could be wrong, I suspect that GDC 2011 will have several companies displaying middleware that is more focused on taking advantage of higher end hardware. Part of the reason they will be showing it off now, even without new consoles being announced, is that most developers will (probably) want 2 to 3 years to work on the launch games for next generation consoles and they will need to be able to get their hands on these tools today to prepare for those systems.
