Why is the answer to everything always a price cut? Its like noone expects that Sony can actually do anything to raise the appeal of the console without first cutting the price. A lot of people seem to be acting like teens as if the console is already unaffordable when the target market is mainly the 18-35 range who have jobs and an income. Anyone who can afford to have an HD TV can afford to own a PS3. The reason more people aint buying is because Sony hasn't convinced enough people that the PS3 is worth $299.

That's not exactly true. I'm convinced a gallon of milk is worth more than $4. But I don't buy Alta Dena milk for that much because the store brand is $3. Price plays a large factor in every single industry. It's called supply and demand. The lower the price the higher the demand for a product, the more people will buy it. If Sony lowered their price, more people would buy the PS3. I know you know this, why are you acting like it doesn't exist? I'm not saying it's the only solution to increase sales and maybe not the best solution but it's the easiest and surest way to increase sales and that was the question of the thread.

See bolded.

Of course I know that the price influences demand. I also know that price isn't the only thing which influenced demand. Cutting the price is the easy way out, but it isn't the only way out. Not cutting the price allowed Microsoft to invest probably over a billion dollars into Kinect, long term based off current Kinect performance they made the right move because they'll earn back at least 3 times what they put into Kinect before the end of the generation. Sony on the other hand hasn't been able to invest in things like advertising because they invested so much into price cuts, understand?

Tease.
