It really is a shame that Spirits Within bombed because I really like that movie.

Imagine what Square Pictures could have become if Spirits Within was a success. A real shame.

Then they would have gone under with the second movie like it. It was a big expensive push for a small market. That's why it failed - even a far better movie would have made little difference.

Had they done more mainstream stuff... then Square pictures could have had a long future.

I think it was actully ahead of its time, i havent seen it in ages, and i've never seen it the whole way through, just large chunks, but i think it was way before its time. in many ways i think its like Avatar, but Avatar had James Cameron, and Warner Bros, and 3D.

i'm sure if it didnt have the name FF, and if it was in 3D or Imax (some sort of gimick), and released today it wouldve been recieved a lot better. but the name i think really turned people off. they probabily just thought it was some siliy game movie, and probabily compared it to the likes of Resident Evil or.... Dooooom.

oh by the way i mean that i dont think RE the movie or Doom are good at all.
