I think the overall quality of Final Fantasy games is becoming cyclical. Not counting the MMOs, whenever a truly horrible or at least average-to-below instalment surfaces, the game that follows tends to wind up being a classic, as was true with no. 9, which took the series from childish and confusing to mature and cheerful, and possibly no. 12 but I can't be sure since I never owned a PS2. I wouldn't abandon all hope for FF15 yet, these development teams have shown they can learn from their mistakes.
