The ad campaign increases awareness -- as does experience in playing the unit.
The first sales have to be attributed to the ads (the vast majority of them) and other PR (magazine articles, TV shows, etc.).
The longer you are out from the start, the more likely word of mouth and personal experience are to explain the sales.
The proof will be to see how Kinect units are selling in May and August.
