Mass Effect is such a mess of game, that it's not even worth dragging myself through all it's technical issues and poor designs  just so I can 'truly' understand it's story. I've got it on my 360 and the game just drags, not because the world and plot isn't interesting, but because the game semi freezes just when I'm turning around and the gameplay is just so wonky.

I might buy Mass Effect 2 on the PS3, only because I'd rather play the critically acclaimed sequel, without going through the broken original, while also getting the chance to understand the plot and make the choices from the first game.

It's hard to pass up such a highly praised game and I'm willing to put my money down if it means that I won't have to go through Mass Effect 1.

Best post on the entire thread.

This is interesting.  When did it become accepted "knowledge" that ME was BROKEN on the 360?

in fact, Metacritic and Game Rankings have ME on 360 HIGHER than the PC version.  Personally, I've played through ME1 three times on my 360 and never experienced "semi-freezing" or "wonky" gameplay.  Sure the long-elevator rides could be a pain in the rear, but I never really had any other problem with this game.

Back to the original topic, I think it's cool that PS3 users get all the DLC (particularly as it appears the game is being priced as a new release), but to suggest that an interactive comic is superior to playing Mass Effect, a ~90% reviewed game?  ridiculous.

I've had zero problems with ME on the Xbox 360 as well. The game was tedious and long at parts (the mako parts), but there are parts like that in pretty much every game. ME is an excellent game and most of the decisions carried over to 2. I believe they stated that the interactive comic will allow you to make decisions that will effect ME 2; so you won't miss that part of the game. I can't say you can get the full experience of the ME series without playing the first one, but I'm sure the PS3 version will be excellent.
