Actually they implemented a Sega genesis/Saturn dpad. Up/down/left/right raised in a circle. Nintendo Dpad is just up/down/left right.
I picked this up and love it. Its the second best dpad I've used for Street Fighter, after saturn pad ofcourse...

I find this almost unbelievable given console manufacturer's track record with dpads for the past decade, but your word... gives a chance, I'd love to be able to pop rising storm's like on the saturn's dpad and play my game room games without the need to switch over to my arcade stick

Yeah, I neatly opened my controller box since I was pretty sure ill return it and take this back to best buy... but its a keeper.
Even with the Dpad not twisted its much more responsive than the old dpad, but with it twisted down its quite excellent...It almost feels like microsoft spent days doing half circle like movements in all directions as it feels very sensitive and worked in for you out of the box lol
