Maybe they could limit the PS4 to only play PS3 games from the Blu-Ray player. That way, every game you insert into the PS4 will have to go through the Blu-Ray check first, after it determines wether it's a PS3 or PS4 game, the game will run either on the CELL and RSX or whatever the PS4 has. If someone wants to hack the PS4, they'd have to flash the Blu-Ray drive first.... right? And they can also make every application (except PS3 games... which can only be run from the Blu-Ray drive) be checked by the PS4 security system or whatever... that would make every application that runs on the PS4 need to be signed with the PS4 keys. That way hackers will need to first flash the Blu-Ray drive, insert a fake game that's actually an app that allows them to gain access to the PS3 part of the PS4 and then start hacking the PS4... right? Or am I totally wrong? LOL :P |
No, you are EXACTLY right
See, each Blu-Ray disc has its own unique code (like a barcode), so the PS3 or PS4 discs can be distinguished differently by one another from the code. I've noticed it with watching Blu-Ray movies, and you are exactly right about that. Once the code is read (and if the PS3 or PS4 is connected to the Internet), the system will confirm the identity of the disc. And like I said with my computer, that's exactly what it does with my Blu-Ray software player does, and it will also recommend similar movies for me to watch as well
The Cell or the graphics card can then alter in performance (kind of like 'downgrading') when it has to play a PS3 game. The Cell will fluctuate to suit its needs; it's how a lot of computers are these days. The performance of the hardware will change to meet the needs when running software.
