Why the in the world would they have backwards compatibility. Idiots everywhere are rebuying PS1 and PS2 games(Sly, GOW collection). They can just resell people PS3 games as HD (>1080p or whatever the next screen format is) games. Not to mention they are the only system that took away BC(PS2) from their system.

Not having at least some form of backwards compatibility with the previous generation of hardware is a huge negative for many/most consumers ... 2 or 3 generations of backwards compatibility is less important because people are less likely to own those titles anymore, or to necessarily want to play those games anymore.

PS2 has sold the vast majority of their consoles with only PS1 BC. Id say somewhere around 10 to 20 percent of PS3s have PS2 compatibility. I doubt anyone ever bought XB or Wii  over PS3 because those 2 have BC. Now for myself being a game nerd I love being able to play PS123 on one system, but I would wager most console owners trade in thier previous gen HW/SW to buy the new gen stuff.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.
