Yeah. It still makes absolutely no sense to play ME2 without playing ME1, even if you have the comic. There is so much detail to the gameworld and story in ME1, that can't be replaced with a simple comic.
If you don't play ME1, you won't really notice all the things that will change in ME2 because of your choices.
