You're kidding right? You do know the country to the North of you half fears being invaded by another country and the other half seems to want that to be the case.  A country that previously invaded them, and you!

I mean, it it was only like 50 years ago.  I mean hell, you didn't even get rid of the legacy of said invasion till like 1989.  How young are you that you are ignoring this lesson of history?

The whole "people won't invade you because your economy is too important" arguement only actually works if you have an important economy.

Even then, it's a silly arguement because it expects

A) all country leaders to think rationally.

B) country leaders not thinking "Hey it will make the economy crash for a while but when it recovers we will have control of that economy."

Yeah, yeah, I know about Ukraine and all. And I know about Russia (actually the Soviet Union back then) and communism and all.

But from my knowledge the Romanian military's main recent objectives have been aiding yanks in illegal invasions of middle eastern countries, issue that doesn't really concern us.

Wars cause instability and are more trouble than they're worth. They're also always immoral. If people (regardless of the country they may live in) had any sense they'd rise up against any leader who wants to start a war (that is not in the best interest of anyone), rather than being manipulated by pro-war nationalistic propaganda.

And I'm aware that not all country leaders think rationally, hence why people should be careful for whom they vote (and if they can't choose their leaders, they should be doing something about that).

So in otherwords... your plan is to get rid of your army and hope for the best?  Doesn't sound logical quite honestly.  Remidns me of Sci-Fi Boys form of Star Trek Communism ignorign the fact that we don't have the technology that makes Star Trek Communism work but insisting that said technology will eventually exist.   Which you know, does jack for the here and now.

It's all good to be against all weapons and food dispensers and magicial food dispensers and immortality potions.  None of that really helps with the present.  It's funny though, because I just watched "The Day the Earth Stood Still" yesterday.  The original.

It's a funny and terrifying movie, partially because the big reveal seemed to be the advocacy of space facism.

To be fair, Russia seems more concerned about economic imperialism than military-political imperialism, at least as far as Europe's concerned (everywhere else Russia has a hand in, less so)

Where economic imperialism works in anycase.

They're making good inroads in the Ukraine due to various threats and economic sanctions, though the roadmap seems to have been built in the breakaway georgian regions.  Put in puppet rulers, who are Russia lower government officals and slowly integrate them into russia.  Is there any doubt in your mind they will be absorbed into Russia?

It's a clever way to avoid the problem the Israeli's have.

Should such economic and political meddling fail, like it has so far in Georgia proper... would it really be unlikely to expect the tanks to go rolling in?
