No, Raid is awesome.  I just don't need it anymore.

UPDATE:  The backup magically reappeared.  My relief is incalculable.

I am puzzled as to what exactly happened, and I don't know if the backup is 6 months old or new.  But I DO.  NOT.  CARE.  ONE FUCKING BIT.

I have all, or the vast majority, of my stuff.  I am satisfied.  I am making a second backup because I feel very paranoid right now.  Then I am going to terminate the RAID 5 in the BIOS with extreme prejudice.

Dude, I so know how you felt. My 1 TB once fucked up with all my music, videos, pr0n (yeah, you read right :D) and other stuff. It showed me "Your harddrive is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?". I was angry as hell, but when I plugged it out, plugged it in back again, it still didn't work. At this time I was close to an emotional breakdown, and out of frustration I already ordered a new 1TB HDD, but after I run checkdisk over it (it took over 2 hours full of hopes and insecurity), it finally worked again without loss of data.
