It could be better to many people just as a racer. But as a sim, it seems to be generally agreed upon that GT is superior.

Can you still play "bumper cars" in the corners in GT5? If so then, GT5 is not a better sim having the same critical flaw that GT1 had on PS1.

I don't have the game yet, but I played it at a friend's. However, it's not enough playing time to figure it out personally. I'm just going by what websites generally say from a sim perspective. But from what I know, damage varies depending on your level.
