If Microsoft made a handheld, it would likely have a feature list nearly identical to the PSP. I don't think they're capable of doing anything simple enough to have good battery life yet compelling enough to compete with Nintendo. I think that people at Microsoft are at least vaguely aware of this and having seen the PSP fail, they aren't going to step into the fray.
