It's normal here for "Daniela"s to use "Danny", with an y, as nickname. You can find plenty of them. It's also very unusual for someone to actually be called Dany(i) instead of Daniel(a). The name Daniela is used here too. I've never heard of anyone calling a Daniela "Danny" for short.

Another point is the way it's written. Since the name would be Daniel writing the nickname as "Danny" instead of "Dani" with a single n and an i, it looks very gay. Maybe it's just a cultural thing, but just think about the sound of it.

So you're both an alcoholic AND a homophobe. Anyways in English speaking countries Danny is short for Daniel, while Danni is short for Danielle. It goes the same way for other names (for example Tony is a male name, while Toni is a female name).

My point was it has nothing to do with drinking or not drinking, but with culture, and my point stands :P

And since when does saying something sounds gay make you an homophobe? I just think it sounds and looks affeminate, that's all. I do realise it's not relevant since it's a foreign name/nickname that's not perceived this way in it's country of origin, but that doesn't change the way I perceive it.

No. Alcohol isn't encouraged by religious figures over here (pklus why would I do what somebody esle does or tells me to do? only some kind of sheep would do that).
