Has Ps3 exclusives set the bar for how the way games look like

I think your PS3 exclusives have set the bar higher.  The real question is how much do 3rd party developers really care when it might or might not be worth the effort?  Being multi-platform, it's potentially easier to make a profit on a game with a bigger userbase.  But will making that same game better worth the effort in potential profits of attracting more potential buyers?

Nail hit squarely on the head there.

PS3 exclusives will be technically better than a multilplat.

However they cost more to produce and with a 50 percent cut in potential audience have a much harder task in making profit.

In a commercial sense exclusives are a bad idea.

I would say this is the normal conventional thinking.  But there are always cases when the target audience for a game is potentially far greater in one console than another.  Also, I dare to say that releasing FFXIII for the Xbox 360 in Japan was an utter waste.

I would say that the potential for a target audience to exist on one console and not the other is no longer true. The success of multiplats this gen and the relative poor showings of exclusives (outside of Halo) tend to prove this.

As for releasing FFXIII in Japan for 360. Why Not ? The game was written and the Japanese voice work done. There was very little downside.

Maybe.  I just don't know if low sales in Japan made up for the manufacturing costs.  And maybe it did, but were SE better of moving on to more profitable avenues?  Just a thought.
