I think it's identified as something the right advocates, is it not? An anti-illegal immigrant initiative, if i'm not mistaken, though i rather like the idea myself, merely for effeciency purposes: one national register of all citizens to be identified by local, state, and federal officials all over the country, and can be modified to include if the person is licensed to drive or to hunt or whatever I like the idea, but for a different reason |
Last person i saw advocate it was Hillary Clinton... with extreme christian right advocates suggesting it was proof she was the anti-christ and the end was near.
"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark of his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. "
This was also tied into the Clinton healthcare plan. To recieve free healthcare you had to present your national healthcare ID card.
I believe she wanted it to be a biometric Id card too to prevent fraud and stolen identities.
The right may have adopted it, but it started out a leftwing proposal.
These surveys never really do seem to include questions about the freedoms democrats wish to take away from people. I don't see the big deal myself... I mean, to protect peoples right to lie to the government about who they are?
